Ryan Parmenter’s new solo release is often zany, poppy, and lively. The album is intended to be instantly fun, undeniably melodic, and a rewarding treat upon repeated listening. As with his first solo release, Helvetica, the instrumentation of The Noble Knave is made up of layers of keyboard-triggered sounds (much more realistic than ‘synthy’), and the end result is a virtual one-man-band with a stylish array of songs.
